What are the best companies in the world? If you buy a global stock index, the top holdings in the index are merely the ones with largest market capitalizations, 9 of which are American: Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Broadcom, Google, Tesla, J.P. Morgan. The only top 10 holding that isn’t American is Taiwan Semiconductor. These are the biggest companies but does that make them the best? Or just the most popular?

Alhambra’s Global 100 Portfolio looks for the best companies, not the most popular. Our Global 100 is a large-cap, truly global portfolio of companies that have consistently generated high-quality earnings growth. The US stock market has been the center of attention for a long time but there are great companies all around the world.

Great success comes from doing what others aren’t. Add some international diversification to your portfolio today.

Quantitative Modeling

The Global 100 is a large cap global portfolio of companies that have generated high-quality earnings growth. The portfolio construction process starts with a global universe of all stocks listed in the US, including ADRs and foreign stocks listed in the US. This universe of stocks is first ranked using our operating income ranking system:

  • Operating Income, TTM
  • Gross Margin %, TTM
  • Stocks must rank in the top 10% to be included in the portfolio

The top candidates of the quant screen are reviewed and fundamental investment research is performed for new names of interest. The stocks are then ranked using our Value-Quality-Momentum ranking system:

The remaining stocks are ranked based on Return on Equity (ROE) and the highest ranking 100 stocks are included in the portfolio.

Portfolio Construction & Characteristics

The portfolio currently holds 100 stocks, out of a maximum of 100, with the following fundamental profile (as of 10/15/25):

We also run a 50-stock version of this portfolio for more aggressive investors.

Sell Discipline

Stocks are sold from the portfolio when the operating income ranking falls out of the top 50%.
